Things are looking good for my next novel, Hairy Jack, which is now in the editing phase and will have an anticipated release date in February. ...Donk! This beloved Great Dane/Lab mix has won the rare privilege of being transformed into a human being, to appear as a character in my next book, Hairy Jack! A big boy, he weighs in at 110 pounds at just 4 years old, and is incredibly smart. I have every confidence he'll make a great character! Congratulations to Donk and his loving owner!

The rest of those who entered their pets in my contest will also appear in more minor roles in Hairy Jack. So congratulations all around!

I’m coming right along with my next book, Hairy Jack, which is about halfway done, so I decided it’s time to share my secret about its characters. Anyone who has pets must agree they all have their own individual, unique personalities. Having unhealthy attachments to my own pets, I therefore came up with the idea of having them star in one of my books. Don’t worry, it won’t be The Lion King or Babe, with talking animals or anything like that. My characters will still be humans, but they will be all of the pets I know, personified...

I’m about a quarter of the way into my next novel, so I thought I’d give a little insight into my current obsession. Taking a slight side step from my other books, I’m now working on a somewhat glamorous murder mystery, with elements of fantasy and romance, as always, and the working title, Hairy Jack. Set in the 1920s in Massachussetts, it will have everything from jazz, vaudeville and flappers, to ancient artifacts, magic and mythology, and, of course, murder...
